Following thru on the budget went pretty well. Shopping was fun. I clicked on to Amazon and bought new shoes. My last pair of white work shoes got a nice natural cedar stain from when I stained the fence in our new yard. The fence looks great. The shoes have been demoted to only be worn on my days off.
Two thing in life are inevitable. Death and taxes. Death is manageable to some degree. Therefore I try to limit the amount of bacon I consume per day. Taxes are unavoidable.
Property taxes are assessed for all homeowners. Budgeting for taxes seems simple but is proving to be a challenge. The challenge is made more difficult due to incompetence and errors. I'll expand on the confusion related to our property taxes.
The delinquent tax bill came to our attention when the County sent a past due notice. Sadly we had never even received the bill. So how did this happen. The title company is incompetent. To resolve the issue we paid the amount due from our Bank Savings budget category. The title company apologized and mailed us a check for the penalty about assessed by the County.
I wish tax bills were all behind us. Future taxes should now be paid out of the tax impound account, right? Wrong. Special tax assessment was issued yesterday. The tax rate for our property has been adjusted up. The good news is that it's not due till January 4th, 2016. So It can easily be added to the budget.
Landscaping is needed in the back yard. Just got a quote for the dream yard. $26,000
I feel like the estimator for the landscaping company must have literally "dropped the mic" when he clicked send on this email late Friday night. The dream yard plan is going to seriously get picked apart until it gets down to about $12,000. This should be fun - not.
Mrs. MBG asked if we were going to go into debt for the yard. My answer "Oh heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell no!".
Comment guide: Tell me what you really think... Are we in over our head?
I enjoy money and bacon.
