When I left off in debt free update: week sixteen My wife and I had just returned from vacation in Austin Texas. I had put the hotel & rental car on the credit card with plans to pay the CC balance after it posts to the account.
My credit score has been in decline since leaving the "FICO club". To remedy a declining credit score I am trying to use credit to evoke a term called CREDIT UTILIZATION. I'm not a fan but I will play along for now.
The spring break financial hangover isn't a spending hangover. What's eating me up inside is letting the balance of the vacation remain on the credit card for the last fifteen days. Once it hits the account, I will immediately ransfer the allotted funds. The hangover should go way soon.
Focused intensity remained high over the last two weeks. I was able to direct $527 toward the down payment. Money Bacon Girl (my wife) and I are on track to be homeowners by September 2015.
By directing money into the down payment every month we will be prepared for out big purchase. As the summer erodes away into fall I am comfortable going into the home purchase. We will have a big pile of nuts stowed away.
Vacation in Texas was a lot of fun. We visited a rescue zoo, aquarium, wildflower center and the San Antonio Riverwalk. The satisfaction of paying for everything in advance was amazing. Nobody can take that satisfaction away from me.
In my current check I earned about $100 less because I worked a day less while I was on vacation. I have no regrets but I have been kicking it into gear now that I am back. Lets see how I am telling my money what to do.
The bi-monthly budget spreadsheet is a cool tool. My budget is a roadmap that will direct my spending thru May 4th. I anticipate making a few changes and you can check back on May 6th when I publish the debt free update: week twenty.
'Blow Money' is a category that is designed not to be spent but can be. If I can avoid blowing money for the next two weeks then I will stack a few more bucks into the down payment category.
I enjoy money and bacon.
