Net income is pretty flat from the last paycheck. What isn't seen in the net income amount is that I began using my employer match into the Roth 401k.
Gross income is $1,621.32 my deductions are higher since I am making after-tax deductions into the Roth 401k. While I am on baby step 3b and we are saving up for a house. I guess I am comfortable with the amount we have saved and so I could't help but take advantage of the generous match.
What you are looking at above is the recap of the week eighteen budgets. The projected budget is what was set up at the beginning of the month. The final budget is where all the money went. I decide to chop out the gift money and reduce the blow money. As a result I increased savings for the down payment and I have $70 from toward new shoes.
To summarize where I am in the baby steps, I am basically right between step three and four. Guess what? Hidden between those twos steps is baby step 3b: save for a house. So It comes as no surprise that Mrs Money Bacon Guy and I are saving for a house.
Southwest Airlines makes a very generous employer match toward employee 401k plans. I believe the matched amount is 100% of the first 8.3% I am currently contributing 9% which means I am taking full advantage of the matched contribution.
Now that I am reporting the Money Bacon Net Worth quarterly over at the Rockstar Finance net worth tracker page I am motivated to restart saving in retirement accounts. Keep in mind that MBG is debt free, with an emergency fund and has money set aside for a new home. Only with baby step 1-3b complete am I ready to kick my retirement saving into high gear.
Today is my wife's first day driving her new (replacement) car to work. She was in a car accident last week. Today she said it needs to be replaced in less than a year.
Her new car is a 5-speed and I understand the change is difficult for her, she had an automatic. Ideally we will save up a big lump of money and pay cash for her next car. Wish me luck.
I enjoy money and bacon.
